The Alchemist Summary:
Crom returns to a kingdom he once helped unify, only to find it corrupted under a new ruler, King Wilfhelm, the selfish son of the late noble king. Wilfhelm tasks Crom with retrieving a rare alchemical ingredient for Wei Han, an eccentric old friend of Crom’s and a secluded court alchemist. Han uses the ingredient to finalize a powerful invention: gunpowder—capable of reshaping the world with its explosive force.
Amazed yet horrified by its potential for destruction, Crom realizes the invention could lead to endless war. Though he burns the formula, Han reveals he has it memorized. Faced with an impossible choice, Crom grants Han one final sunrise before fulfilling the king’s order in his own way. As dawn breaks, Crom executes his old friend in silence, leaving the tower in shadow.
